National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Uasin-Gishu branch is disappointed with the Government, claiming that the troubled textile industry is being neglected, and that no measures are being taken to revive the firms that were forced to shut down.
"We have seen the Government revive Kenya-Co-operative Creameries and Kenya Meat Commission, as well as fund the National Cereals and Produce Board to purchase grain, Why not revive the textile sector as well?", stresses Chairman Charles Mose.
Once leading producers like Rift Valley (Rivatex) and Rupa were compelled to seal, buried under huge debts almost eight years ago, and the Government has left them to deal with their plight alone.
Such companies need financial and other forms of aid to stand on their feet once again.
