Opposition to fertile land acquisition for textile parks

The acquisition of fertile lands by Andhra Pradesh Government to set up textile parks in Guntur district has been vehemently opposed by Communist Party of India (Marxist).
The party has opposed the move saying that acquiring fertile land for the project in spite of fact that unsown land was available in plenty in the district was a blunder on part of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation.
Citing the statement of UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi that fertile land must not be used for industrial development, the party has asked for withdrawal of the notification.
