The US delegates in Kuala Lumpur are optimistic of concluding atleast one free-trade agreement by early 2007.
Despite several unresolved issues including that of Government procurement, the talks are being regarded as promising and are progressing rapidly.
Malaysia has climbed upto 10th position as a trading partner for the US, registering two-way trade of over $44 billion last year.
Whereas, US is the top partner for this country that hope to further strengthen relations.
Barbara Weisel, US trade negotiator, said, “We are encouraged by the progress made during this round. We believe our discussions have provided us the momentum we need for further significant progress at the next round.”
