Gas tariffs for textile sector be cut down, claims NA

Textile sector has been struggling to stay above the waters in global markets for almost a year now, and National Assembly's Standing Committee is fighting aggressively to make the industry stand upright once again.

Organization recently, proposed that the Government cut down duties on gas and fuels for textile industry so as to atleast balance it with that of other Asian countries.

Chaudhry Nisar Ahmed Jatt, Chairman, informed, “We will meet the prime minister and present him with some proposals to pull the textile industry out of the present crisis.”

Federal Textile Industries Minister, Mushtaq Cheema, says that the textile sector had a tough time even competing against countries like India, Bangladesh and China.

The gas prices have been hiked six times in past four years.
