An Iranian delegation of three people and office bearers of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) decided unanimously at a meeting in Lahore that to cope with growing international challenges, Iran and Pakistan must conduct maximum bilateral trade.
To strongly commence engaging private sectors of both nations which is essential, serious and industry oriented attempts have not been made till now, said economic chief of Iranian Embassy in Islamabad, Mohsen Pakparwar.
He stated that bilateral trade between both countries was being hindered by insufficient information. This issue can be solved through trade delegations and joint exhibitions.
An expert in economy, Mohsen added that Iran's petrochemicals are well developed, but Pakistan's businessmen have not taken any benefit of this. He stressed many other sectors in which both nations could start joint undertakings.
Iran imports cotton, leather goods and textile yarns from Pakistan and it exports petroleum products and woolen carpets to this country. Trade level between both nations must be increased to $1 billion, said Shahid Hassan Sheikh, President of LCCI.
