Nirupam Sen, Minister for Commerce and Industries, in State Assembly responding to a question replied that approximately Rs6,800 crore have been invested in various industries and 510 industries have been set up in West Bengal during current calendar year.
Opposition was protesting against acquisition of agricultural land for industrial purpose. He told that Government is looking for investment in petrochemicals, electronics, iron and steel, cotton, leather, food processing and jewellery.
He avoided opposition's query by stating that it is not possible for the Government to reply such questions in the middle of the year as it is continuous process.
