Sarsana village in Surat is to get the biggest trade centre in India, developed by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SGCCI). This will be built as per international standards.
About 1.30 lakh square metre land was allotted to the SGCCI for the trade centre at Sarsana, 5 km from Surat.
A convention centre and two auditoriums of about 1,000 and 400 seating capacity is to be built here along with one lakh square metre of permanent exhibition space.
Training centres for diamond, jewellery and textile industry will be created here beside a designing centre for the diamond cutting industry. A centre to train managerial-level people with hostel facilities will also be provided here.
Chief Minister of Gujarat will lay foundation stone in December and the project will begin from January 2007.
