Supported by last year's Government resolution of providing barren land to corporates for farming, the Revenue Department allotted more than 800 hectares of land to three companies in Saurashtra and North Guajrat, department sources informed.

The Government has allocated 677 hectares of land situated in Devisar village of Anjar taluka (Kutch) to Welspun Group and Bhimasar projects of Gandhidham. Both the companies have applied for growing cotton on 667 hectares of land.

According to Revenue Department, about 1.9 million hectares of wasteland is owned by Government that can be used for corporate cultivation.
