Cotton Development Committee (CDC) has started national cotton development programme by which it has organized a nationwide tour to educate farmers in cotton producing state.
In the country, more than 250,000 Nigerian farmers were involved in cotton production, sources informed. As cotton plays vital role in economy of the country, CDC has developed cotton sector development programme that will cover cotton, textile and garment chain through a market oriented strategy.
Different classes of recommended cotton varieties for regeneration in the next planting season have been cultivated on 1800 hectares approximately.
