Businesses from the Republic of Korea (RoK) wish to cooperate with Vietnamese partners in a wide range of spheres, including construction materials, plastics, audio equipment, medicine, cosmetics and tourism.

The statement was made by Choi Chul, President of the Eum Seong province's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at a Vietnam-Korea business forum held in Ha Noi on Dec. 8.

He hoped that the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and its colleagues in the Eum Seong province will establish a long-term partnership, helping to boost commercial and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Addressing the forum, Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of the VCCI's Business Development Institute, highlighted the cultural similarity between Vietnam and the RoK, saying it is a favourable condition to help promote their investment and commercial cooperation.

Two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and the RoK has enjoyed a stable growth of between 10-15 percent each year, according to the Foreign Economic Relations Department under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Vietnam mainly exports raw materials, agro-forestry products, and seafood to the RoK. Meanwhile, Viet Nam-bound exports of the RoK include raw materials for production of clothing, footwear and machines.

The RoK is currently owns 1,250 valid projects in Vietnam with a total registered investment capital of over 7 billion USD, ranking the 3rd among 76 countries and territories investing in Vietnam. Korean investors get involved in various sectors, particularly industry, construction and services.
