Benin President concerned over cotton farmer subsidies

Benin President told that subsidies to cotton farmers in the US can cause problems for cotton producing African countries.

According to him, two out of three people in Africa mainly rely on cotton for their livelihood.

These concessions granted has largely affected economy and he requested America to help in easing mechanism of the country.

Benin lost around US $1 billion (€760 million) in sales of cotton due to subsidy to cotton farmers in US and Europe.

He also appreciated America for all that they are doing for eradicate poverty from the African continent.
