Govt plans to revive Kanpur textile sector

Government has decided to invest Rs112 crore to revive the Elgin Mills in Kanpur.
Proposal said that Elgin should be established as a manufacturing center for cotton clothes
Government wishes Kanpur to re-acquire the status in textile industry and is supporting the cities efforts on all fronts.
Another initiative will involve endorsing Lal Imli products through exclusive retail in Lucknow, Bhopal, Jaipur and Shimla.
