Orissa Government showed least interest in Growth Pole Project that would have generated income and urban employment.
According to sources, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and West Bengal have bagged Growth Pole Projects under which, projects, enterprises cluster of carpet, leather, wood work etc, will be developed.
The area in which enterprises cluster will be established can be declared a special economic zone (SEZ) offering host of tax incentives for entrepreneurs.
It is high time that Orrisa sheds its inhibitions in getting off the mark to lay a proper roadmap for development of its rich manpower, natural resources and promote all round industrial development to come back in the reckoning as a leading State from the East.
