AYKA Textile shifts garment production base to Ethiopia

AYKA Textile Industry and Trade Incorporated has started moving its garment production units to Ethiopia, which offers cheaper labor and incentives from government.
Company is the biggest investment to have ventured into Ethiopia and the government is expressing complete support.
AYKA will provide over 300 jobs and expects to generate sales worth US $70 million in the first year.
Government has allocated an Alem Gena area of 15,000 square meters for the company.
AYKA also revealed plans to take advantage of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) duty free access to the US.
