Govt issues investigation report on trade barriers

On December 25, 2006, Ministry of Commerce issued investigation report on 2005 Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and trade barriers that affected China in 2005. It is the first time that Government carried out such investigation about trade barriers and would carry out such investigation every year.

In 2005, 15 percent of enterprises dealing in exports were affected by trade barriers and 18 categories of goods exported suffered direct loss of $69.1 billion, accounting for 9.07 percent of export volume in 2005.

Similarly, total production cost of enterprises soar to US $21.7 billion because of trade barriers.

The IPR and trade barriers has affected eastern, western, central and northeast China. In eastern China, provinces such as Shenzhen, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai affected the most.
