According to a study by National Textile Strategy Committee production cost in Pakistan is at least 15-20 percent higher than that of its chief competitors.
However, Government has not yet given green signal to the textile relief package. Ministry revealed that it would approve this package after the conclusion of studies by Gherzi and Werner.
Experts believe that further delay will adversely affect global market share of the textile industry. Besides, once lost, it becomes extremely difficult to regain this share.
