Central Government has allocated Rs911 crore for Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) for 2007-08, said Union Minister of State for Textiles E V K S Elangovan on the occasion of inauguration of a modern silk testing centre here, on Sunday.
The allocation provided under TUFS represented a substantial increase over last year's allocation of Rs541 crore, informed Elangovan.
The Government has also planned to set up textile parks at Palladam, Kumarapalayam, Madurai and Erode and for this purpose a sum of Rs20 crore had been allocated for preliminary work.
