Trade relations with S Africa need to be enhanced

Mutual cooperation commission meeting between Pakistan officials and 20-member delegation of South Africa kicked off in Islamabad.

During the meeting, Foreign Secretary Riaz Muhammad Khan emphasized the need for enhancing economic and trade relations and removing obstacles in trade between the two countries.

Muhammad also stressed the promotion of cooperation between two countries in the field of agriculture, textile and other sectors.

Two countries agreed on signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on bilateral cooperation by May 30, South African delegation will visit to Pakistan in July 2007, and establishment of a joint business council.

Presently the trade volume between Pakistan and South Africa has reached $448 million and for further improvement, the two countries have formed a joint commission on March 9.
