Brazil -Turkey to enhance economic relations

Brazil's Ambassador in Ankara Cesario Melantonio Neto stated that Brazil will open an Honorary Consulate in Aegean city of Izmir on September 7, which is Brazil's Independence Day.

Neto recently met the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry (EBSO) Executive Board President Tamer Taskin.

Pointing towards lack of economic relations between the two countries, Taskin informed that Turkey and Brazil were the two major cotton countries in the world, and also in textile and leather industries.

Taskin also added that businessmen from both sides would meet in Istanbul to sort out issues of related to the textile sector.

Turkey's exports to Brazil amounted $50 million, while, Brazil's exports to Turkey are $400 million. However, Turkey wants to raise these figures, he noted.

Brazil also wants to be the honorary guest country of the Izmir International Fair next year, conveyed Neto.
