State Minister Kursad Tuzmen, who is in-charge of foreign trade, said at the 5th World Chambers Congress on Thursday that all types of logistic activity taking place in the country will be shifted from west to east and this will be made via Turkey.

Tuzmen said this move was necessary because apart from being an intersection point in transportation, Turkey's recent foreign trade volume has reached $250 billion. He also added that the government aims to make the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea a free trade zone.

Highlighting the fact that the eastern world has gained tremendous importance as far as international trade is concerned, Tuzmen said the Turkish city of Mersin will be one of the best logistics centers of the Mediterranean in the near future.
