In a press conference held on July 25, office holders of Chinese Trade Department said that textile trade between China and EU would remain stable inspite of the varied stand taken by EU countries.
Few European countries like France, Italy and Portugal are favouring extension of quotas on Chinese textiles while some trade associations, on behalf of the interests of importers and retailers, are demanding to end the quota as scheduled on January 1, 2008.
However, EU recently decided not to impose quota after this date. At present, China and European Union are looking for some ways to ensure that Sino-EU textile trade can steadily develop after the quota period ends.
In the first five months of this year, the export volume of Chinese textiles products to EU increased by just 5.5 percent.
