The textile industry in India, which has carved a niche for itself, is currently booming. After agriculture, it is the second largest employment generator.
With increasing global connectivity, the Indian textile industry is now facing severe competition in the international markets. However, Indian cotton and yarn manufacturers are showing considerable interest in meeting this challenge.
Its cotton sector has grown in size as well as volume. Cotton yield this year is forecast at around 23 million bales. Thus, with cotton glut in the offing, its processing in to fibres and yarns will create huge opportunities for spinners and weavers alike.
This is amply demonstrated by the fact that about eight companies and manufacturing organisations have approached for industrial licenses and submitted their proposal for approval.
The list features companies whose licenses have been approved during April-June 2007. To view list click here
