Starting from January 1, 2008, eight categories of China's textile exports to the EU will be put under bilateral monitor system and no longer be subject to quantitative restrictions. Bilateral surveillance refers to two-way quantity monitoring through issuing 'export license' by both the sides. The textile industry of Shaoxing was quite happy with this news.

The eight textile categories are category 4 (T-shirts), Category 5 (pullovers), Category 6 (trousers), category 7 (female-shirts), category 20 (bedspread), category 26 (one-piece dresses), category 31 (bras), category 115 (flax yarn).

With the implementation of this the stress on export enterprises will be reduced. All qualified companies can be engaged in exports under bilateral monitoring system.

According to a textile exporter of Shaoxing this will bring many business opportunities with the EU for textile enterprises in the region.
