Exporters and manufacturers are trying out innumerable means to break the perpetuating chain of rupee appreciation. From seeking Government's help to transacting trade in other currencies, textile industry in India has gone through every phase of trial and error. However, there still remains one last hope.

Producers are now concentrating on increasing its average production by improving its productivity. This in turn will require updating of manufacturing units with latest technology.

Growing the volume of production is the only way to beat the diminishing margins of the exporters and it seems like manufacturers are all for it.

Technology assistance from Germany and Japan has been sought, followed by increased number of visits paid by experts from the field. However, resorting to this measure is also an agonizing task since this involves a large sum of investment which is not a cinch during these critical circumstances.

In spite of such daunting challenges, small and medium sized firms are heading for bank loans to acquire technology and boost production.
