Pak trade house in Moscow

In a meeting at Karachi between Russian delegates and Tariq Ikram, Chief Executive Officer, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan on December 18, the desire to set up a Pakistani trade house in Moscow was put forward by the visitors.

This trade house would essentially create awareness in Russia about the Pakistani products, their demand in the growing market and their competitive prices.

The delegation was headed by Ambassador Sergey N Pescow and included Vladimir Consul General of Russian Federation. Matters like reviving the Pakistan-Russian Business Council were also discussed to promote and expand trade between the two countries. Besides, Russia also looked forward to organizing a single country exhibition.

The visiting delegates from Russia also disclosed their intention to usher two Pakistani banks, National Bank of Pakistan and Askari Bank for making transaction more convenient for Pakistani exporters in Moscow.

Mr Ikram representing Pakistan told the delegates that exports to Russia had reached US $140 million in the past eight years. However, areas where imports fell low were also pointed out to the Russian delegates.

Mr Tariq further emphasized, about Pakistan having an advantage over its competitors, in terms of price in areas like textile; garment and leather products. He ascertained that Pakistan has a huge potential in the exports of sports goods, man-made textile apparel, footwear and many other commodities.
