Cargo being diverted from hurricane devastated destinations to other ports

While ports of North Carolina, New Orleans and Missisippi will take time to return back to normalacy, till then, its busy time for docks in Morehead City, Wilmington, Port of Pensacola in Florida, Panama City, Florida among others.
These ports do not even fall in the 40 ports list of USA, yet they expects a 60 to 70 percent increase in traffic this year.
While it may take couple of weeks for New Orleans to start operations, there's no information as to when the two ports of Mississippi may restart.
This has created situation where ports like the Panama City hd to turn away cargo ships due to lack of facilities to handle such a load. However, it handled small textiles container ships cargo for the first time to Mexico and return with finished products, ports sources informed.
A spoeksman of the American Assoication of Ports Authorities said that ports in Houston, and Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Tampa, Florida, may get cargo diverted from hurricane ravaged ports.
In Tampa and at the Virginia ports of Newport News, Norfolk and Portsmouth, shipping companies have asked about making deliveries of fresh produce, frozen poultry, rubber, plywood and other products.
