Minister Bo Xilai pointed out that most of textiles, blocked in the ports of EU countries, have been paid by the EU importers. Taking into consideration of long-term and all-round economic and trade cooperation, and difficulties of EU, China did not sit watching and would solve the issue with EU through friendly negotiation, which showed China was a trade partner of responsibility. It is a fact that trade protectionism for Chinese textiles will hurt interests of EU importers, retailers and consumers.
Mr. Scajola said Italy was pleased that China-EU reached an agreement on textiles blocked in the ports of EU countries, which were in keeping with China-EU common interests, and Italian government hoped Italian textile circle could cope with competition pressure under free trade.
After the talks, Minister Bo Xilai and Scajola signed memorandum of understanding on cooperation of small and medium enterprise, investment and promotion organizations of the two sides signed memorandum of understanding on two-way investment.
Minister Bo Xilai met with heads of delegation of some African countries.
Minister Bo Xilai said that China International Investment Trade Fair had been an important platform to promote China-Africa cooperation. African countries are old friends of China, China is willing to encourage domestic enterprise invest in Africa and give support on human resource development, staff training and technology transformation.
Representatives of African countries expressed their gratitude for China's unselfish help to them, and welcomed more Chinese enterprises to invest in Africa.
In the evening on September 8, Minister Bo Xilai met with Panitchpakdi Secretary General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development, and exchanged views on strengthening China-UNCTAD cooperation and the new round negotiations of the WTO.
