On January 22, Bui Xuan Khu, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and Hubert Cooreman, the Belgian Ambassador to the country, signed a cooperation agreement, according to which Belgian Government will help Vietnam Textile Research Institute (TRI) to strengthen its capacity in researching, training and developing textile testing technique.

It will take around 36 months to complete the project and the investment is expected to reach almost Euro 1.22 million. The Belgian side has decided to sponsor Euro one million and Vietnam Government will contribute the remaining Euro 2,20,000.

According to Bui Xuan Khu, the project will help TRI to provide high-quality services to the textile and garment industry through R&D activities, transfer of technology, testing and training as well as improve its own financial capacity to become a leading textile research institute in Vietnam.
