Following the inconclusive talks last month over the textile investigations on Chinese imports in the US, the next (fifth) round has been scheduled for October 12-13, 2005, in Beijing.

In an official announcement over the Ministry of Commerce website, Friday, the release acknowledged failure at reaching agreement over the vexed textile issue.

Over 20 of the major 30 textile categories have been under put under restrictive measures by the US authorities since the US Government accepted petitions of US textile makers to stop Chinese imports.

Emboldened with the recent success in releasing the EU embargo over 80 million textile and apparel pieces held in various ports of Europe, it is expected that China will now proceed to talks on its home ground on Oct 12, in a firm and purposeful manner.
