Deputy Chief Minister seeks loan waiver for weavers

Mr Sushil Kumar Modi, Deputy Chief Minister, speaking at the meeting of the executive committee, asserted that the Union Government must declare a loan waiver scheme for weavers as well which should be on lines of those issued for the farmers.
Modi reiterated that weavers in the handloom and power loom industry must also be provided loan at seven percent interest rate like in the case of farmers.
However, the Deputy Chief Minister did acknowledge that the Government had struggled hard for the up-liftment and enhancement of the extremely backward castes (EBCs) by providing them with 20 percent reservation to them in panchayats and other urban bodies.
