Kerala to establish 25 textile parks

Under the Union Government's proposal for integrated textile parks, the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) has sent invitation to industrialists and companies to establish textile parks in the state.

They said plan expects establishment of 25 textile parks of international stature and the proposal enlist for top-notch infrastructure service in setting up textile factories.
This scheme would help textile companies to achieve international environmental and social criteria, said A S Babu, Managing Director, KINFRA.

Babu also added that special purpose vehicle (SPVs) would facilitate the Ministry of Textiles to implement and operate the scheme. Integrated textile parks (ITPs) will be sponsored chiefly by associations or groups from the textile sectors.

Ministry of Textiles, State Government, State Industrial Development Corporation, industry and project management consultants would finance the entire project and banks and finance companies will provide funds for the project.

Kanjikode in Palakkad and Seethangoli in Kasaragod are the locations earmarked for the project and the government will provide for 40 percent of the total cost subject to a ceiling of Rs 40 crore.
