Karnataka cabinet approves new textile policy

In a cabinet meeting held on forming a new district in the state, the cabinet members approved introduction of a new textile policy, which would generate five lakh new jobs over a period of five years.

The cabinet meeting, chaired by chief minister BS Yeddyurappa in Gulbarga on Friday approved this new textile policy which will be implemented in the next five years with an investment of Rs5,000 million.

After the meeting, Mr Yeddyrappa told journalists that the policy contained several measures to augment the garment industry and that the sector was expected to generate investment of around Rs100,000 million over the next five years.
