The Manchester City Council has proposed an audit of its suppliers of textiles and apparels to see whether they stand up to the environmental and sustainability standards. Towards this end it has selected a textiles laboratory to oversee the process.

Trafford Park based, Shirley Technologies has been given the mandate to check and ensure that all the textiles and apparels supplied by its outsourcing vendors meet the high standards set by the city council with regards to environment and sustainability.

This will be the first endeavour by any city council in the United Kingdom and will provide a thrust to the green and ethical movement along with ensuring the highest standards for the apparels and textiles supplied by its vendors.
