Mr. Isaac Osei, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin appealed to all Ghanaians to save the local textile industry collectively, by avoiding cheap imported products.

Due to the low priced imported goods, Akosombo Textiles Limited (ATL) with the potential to provide 5,000 jobs, employs just 1,500 people at present, he noted as an example.

Mr. Osei added that the traders should avoid offering assistance to the foreign companies in imitating Ghanaian print designs.

In order to check smuggling, the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) must be more vigilant too, he said while interacting with people in his constituency.
