The South Korean government is implementing a new unified mark, with an aim to promote public health, quality and safety and will be mandatory for domestic producers as well as imported goods, which includes textiles and apparels.

The 'KC' mark, will be one-stop certificate, which will integrate and unify 13 other measures applicable, currently. It will be mandatory for companies to obtain the KC mark, from an authorized body before launching the products in the market.

Textile and clothing products, produced domestically or imported into Korea, will now be regulated by the KC Mark for the Self Regulatory Safety Confirmation Act and the Safety Quality Mark Act.

Certification obtained under the previous system will remain valid. The KC Mark can be used simultaneously with existing marks until June 30, 2011.
