Textile committee cess to remain, says Textile Minister S Vaghela

Textile Minister Shankersinh Vaghela said that the ministry would not remove the textile committee cess on the organised mills until the defaulting mills pay up all the dues piled up over the year.
While addressing the Addressing the economic editors conference, Vaghela said organized textile mills were under the purview of the cess for funding the activities of textile committee that included inspection of exports.
Industry giants including Reliance Textile Industries owe large sums of money by way of cess to the Government informed the Minister.
It is mandatory for the mills to pay 0.05 percent of their turnover as cess, the removal of which has one of the long standing demands of the industry.
