Textiles to be exempted from Sales Tax, says Tex Min Mushtaq Cheema

Federal Minister for Textile Industries, Mushtaq Ali Cheema addressing a meeting held with the Chairman of All Pakistan Textile Manufacturing Association (APTMA) and textile manufacturers, informed, that the government has decided to do away with sales tax from textile industry, said a press statement.

In the global competitive market, this step was necessary to counter the attractive export policies adopted for promotion of value added goods pursued by Bangladesh, India and China, he said.

Monitoring the textile industry on a regular basis he emphasised that APTMA offer proper feedback to the Government to facilitate in formulating effective textile policy.

Assuring full support to textile industry and APTMA in particular, he expressed his views to bring in trained and skilled manpower from abroad for global competitiveness and thereby increase employment opportunities.
