Hinting at a possible delay in conclusion of WTO trade talks over subsidies, specially as two major warring trade factions not coming to terms over a common platform, the European Union Trade Chief Peter Mandleson called the Friday talks as "going backwards."
"It is hard to see where progress can be achieved in Hong Kong if the talks continue in this direction," he commented.
Stance adopted by banana, cotton, and sugar growing nations that were unrelentingly striving to reject any trade agreement that did not take care of farmer interests, led Mandelson to comment; "The level of ambition, if anything, is going backwards."
