The November non-food inflation rate reached double digits in rural areas. Non-food inflation in rural areas jumped to 10.31 per cent in November from 9.98 per cent in October this year. According to the bureau, the non-food inflation fired up the overall inflation in rural areas to 8.94 per cent in November from 8.92 per cent in October.
Non-food inflation also increased to 9.54 per cent in urban areas in November from 9.07 per cent in October. Core inflation in urban areas stood at 8.7 per cent in November from 8.9 per cent in October.
Overall inflation across the country rose to 9.52 per cent in August—the highest in a decade—and dropped to 9.1 per cent in September. It further fell to 8.91 per cent in October.
"In other countries, headline inflations have now started to come down after reaching double digits. So, the falling trend in our country matches with the global pattern," planning minister MA Mannan was quoted as saying by Bangladeshi media reports.
