Cooperation between China and several Pacific island countries has been energetic and a series of bilateral cooperation documents have been signed with these nations on Belt and Road, climate change, fighting COVID-19, disaster prevention and mitigation, green development, health, agriculture, trade and tourism, China’s state councilor Wang Yi said recently.

Wang, who is also China’s foreign minister, was on an official visit to Port Moresb, the capital city of Papua New Guinea.

Addressing a joint press conference with Papua New Guinea's minister of foreign affairs and international trade Soroi Eoe, he said China all the cooperation agreements are witnessing solid progress and will add new impetus into economic development and well-being of the Pacific island countries.

China has also issued a position paper on mutual respect and common development with Pacific island countries, Wang was quoted as saying by official Chinese media.
