The Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers’ Union (SACTWU) affiliated to the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has welcomed the latest BRICS Summit Declaration as adopted by heads of state last week during the BRICS Summit in Brazil, especially the declaration’s commitment to combat under-invoicing of imported goods.

It is a significant concrete step in the implementation of the commitments that the South African government had made in the retail clothing, textile, footwear and leather (R-CTFL) masterplan, which the union, businesses and social partners had signed on 6 November at the 2nd Presidential Investor Conference held in Johannesburg, the union said.
