Turkey’s economic confidence index fell by 1.8 per cent month on month in December, according to latest figures. From 99.3 in November, the index slipped to 97.6 in the last month, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) showed. A rating above 100 indicates optimism for the economic situation, while one below 100 implies a negative assessment.All sub-indices posted negative results in the month, with the construction confidence index registering the biggest drop of 3.9 per cent to end at 90, a news agency reported.
Consumer confidence slipped by 3.1 per cent, followed by real sector confidence (1.7 per cent), services confidence (0.5 per cent) and retail trade confidence (0.4 per cent).
