Turkiye hikes natural gas, electricity prices for industrial users

Turkiye recently announced raising prices for electricity and natural gas for industrial users. Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS) hiked the gas price by 20 per cent for small and medium enterprises, large industrial users and electricity-generating companies. The prices took effect from October 1.

The wholesale price of natural gas for households, however, remains unchanged.

A BOTAS statement said the country has the lowest natural gas price among European countries after Ukraine based on the Household Energy Price Index (HEPI) prices.

Meanwhile, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority hiked the price of electricity for businesses and industrial customers by 20 per cent, effective October 1. The price of electricity for household use remains unchanged, according to Turkish media reports.
