Turkiye's CPI soars 9.09% MoM in August 2023: Turkstat

Turkiye’s consumer price index (CPI) for August 2023 surged by 9.09 per cent compared to the previous month, marking a 43.06 per cent rise since December of the previous year, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (Turkstat). Year-on-year, the CPI rose by 58.94 per cent, and the twelve-month moving average increased by 56.28 per cent.

Within the various sectors, clothing and footwear experienced one of the lowest annual increases, at 31.10 per cent.

Transportation costs soared, recording the highest monthly increase at 16.61 per cent, as per Turkstat.

Additionally, a specific indicator for CPI coverage, known as coverage, increased annually by 63.52 per cent and monthly by 9.32 per cent.
