Japanese ethylene output marginally up in June

Ethylene output in Japan grew marginally by 3.1 percent year-on-year in June 2011, year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

Ethylene production totaled to 524,400 tons, when corresponded with 508,800 in the same month of 2010.

However, June ethylene output was down by 5.2 percent from its previous month, when it stood at 553,100 tons.

The month witnessed two plant maintenance shutdowns against four in June 2010.

Exports of ethylene fell 17.4 percent to 142,100 tons in May from a year earlier, while in April it had dipped to 152,500 tons down 11.4 percent. Export figures for June are yet to be announced.
