Tosoh Corporation a Japanese ethylene producer had cut operating rates to 90 percent at its naphtha cracker in the last quarter of 2011.
However, the company is not sure how long it would operate at those rates, which were reduced due to a slowdown in demand, a spokesperson of Tosoh revealed.
Tosoh was operating the naphtha cracker at full capacity rates in the first three quarters of the previous year.
