Chinese PX imports shoot up in Jan

Chinese paraxylene (PX) imports were higher in January from its previous month and also from a year earlier.

PX imports in January touched 449,400 tons, up 42,500 tons or 10.44 percent from December 2011, revealed statistics from Chinese Customs.

PX imports in the first month of 2012 were also higher by 66,200 tons or 17.21 percent, over the same period last year.

The average import price was US $1,476 / ton in January a rise of 0.75 percent from the previous month, and 9.8 percent from a year earlier.
