Chinese imports of spandex shoot up in March

Chinese imports of spandex fibre shot up in March 2012, while exports fell in single digits in the same month.

China imported 1,559 tons of spandex fibre in March, up 544 tons or 53.6 percent compared to February this year.

The average import price was US $7.29 / kg, down 13.32 percent compared to February.

In the same month, the country exported 3,073 tons of spandex, a decline of 191 tons or 5.85 percent from its previous month.

The average export price was 6.64 / kg, up 1.22 percent over February, according to statistics.
