Chinese benzene imports soar in May

May Chinese benzene imports soared 137.41 percent over the same period last year.

China imported 27,942 tons of benzene in May 2012, whose value stood at US $33.15 million, according to custom statistics. The average import price was US $1189 / ton.

Benzene output rose 5.6 percent in the month of May, from a year earlier, to reach 547,518 tons.

In the first five months of 2012, benzene production touched 2.673 million tons, a hike of 25.8 percent from a year ago.
