Japan's naphtha imports decline in June

Japan’s imports of naphtha for ethylene production decreased both in terms of volume and value during June 2012, according to the data released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
 
Value-wise, Japanese naphtha imports fell 9.1 percent month-on-month to US$ 961.2 million or €798 million.
 
In terms of volume, the country’s naphtha imports dipped 1.8 percent month-on-month to 1.45 million kilolitres.
 
The average price of naphtha imports also fell by 7.4 percent month-on-month to US$ 972.4/ton in June compared to price of US$ 1,050/ton in May 2012.
